Chapter members are able to be involved in the local community by volunteering at Washington Elementary, which is just down the street from our beloved Maple Street address! Girls have the opportunity to read to and tutor the school children, while enjoying time with sisters. In the 2016-17 school year, a total of 174 Kappa members volunteered with the children of Washington Elementary.
The Gamma Nu Kappas also came together to contribute to our national philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental. This year, Arkansas Kappas are hosting a Reading Is Key Week full of philanthropic events. This will include annual inter-fraternal King of the Kourt basketball tournament and Breakfast for Books dinner at the house. All proceeds from the tournament and dinner benefit Reading Is Fundamental.
The week will conclude with our annual “Reading Is Key” event at Grace Hill Elementary in Rogers, AR. At the end of this fun-filled event, students each receive books from Kappa volunteers.
